There are multiple causes for ED.

Beyond the wide range of physical problems, what are the other causes of erectile dysfunction? Psychological ED issues can include many factors, such as performance anxiety, depression, relationships problems, and pornography addiction.

Psychological ED

Psychological factors are responsible for about 10%-20% of all cases of erectile dysfunction, and is often a secondary reaction to an underlying physical cause. Psychological ED may also stem from childhood abuse or sexual trauma.

Performance anxiety is an emotional disturbance during the excitement phase, where doubts about one’s ability to perform inhibits performance. Overcoming self-consciousness may need psychological counseling in preference to other ED treatments in order to uncover the underlying causes, but many men find that the use of PDE-5 inhibitors, such as Vardenafil (Viagra), Sildenafil (Levitra), and Tadalafil (Cialis) have become the first-line ED treatment, whatever the specific ED causes. Depression can lead to relationship problems, and a general loss of hope can disturb relationships with friends and family, as well as with their sexual partner. Pornography addiction has also proven to be a recent trend that affects sexual performance. The unreasonable standards and fantasy-based environment of pornography can enervate as it stimulates, and can serve to dissociate men from real life and genuine sexual intimacy.

Stress and ED

Specialists who offer a comprehensive level of service are prepared to address any of the many possible ED causes, and offer a range of ED treatments that will be tailored to each individual patient. In addition to PDE-5 inhibitors, penile surgery, and other ED treatments. Psychological counseling has proven effective in the treatment of stress and ED, and can often be used in combination with other ED treatments.

Another recent innovation men may want to consider is acoustic wave therapy for ED. Shockwave therapy is a non-drug alternative that employs the use of sound wave technology to foster better sexual performance, and has proven to be the most effective ED treatment for many. Acoustic wave therapy for ED treats more than the signs and symptoms, and may provide psychological benefits as well as physical ones. Shockwave’s acoustic wave therapy for ED stimulates healthy tissue growth, increases blood flow, and promotes greater sensitivity and performance.

Unlike Viagra and other potency drugs, Shockwave does not require the use of drugs, and offers more than short term results. Shockwave therapy typically includes 6 treatments, one every other day for two weeks, or twice a week for three weeks. Patients using Shockwave report experiencing longer lasting erections and improved sexual function. The effect of the treatment can sometimes last up to two years. Like Viagra and other potency drugs, acoustic wave therapy for ED may be used in combination with psychological counseling to achieve the most effective ED treatment.

If you are suffering from ED, please understand that the causes may be physical or emerge from performance anxiety, depression, relationships problems, and even pornography addiction. Discuss psychological ED with a specialist, and overcome your ED problems.
